Really neat but gave me severe heebie-jeebies. It’s all about insects, but there is no dialogue or anything. There is just a bit of an introduction at the beginning and then the insects take over. It is really amazing to watch the species in their various stages of metamorphosis. It is beautifully shot with severe close-ups of all the creepy-crawlies. I was extremely brave and watched it all the way to the end, but I will have to admit to being mildly grossed out by the snail sex. Blech! (Watch for a tragic scene involving caterpillers.) (****)

  • Things You Can Tell Just By Looking at Her

I enjoyed this movie immensely. Rent it and sit down with a bunch of girlfriends and enjoy. It’s a typical chick-flick in that it may make you cry, but it is not soppy or overdone. The only thing I would criticize is the choice of Cameron Diaz in her role. I don’t want to tell what role she plays because it is better to find out by watching the film yourself, but in my opinion, she is too flashy for that part. You end up looking at her too much and it distracts from the story. I think you’ll see what I mean. (*****)

I wanted to so much to like this movie. I love movies about dancing, and I love to watch tap dancing, so I thought this was going to be a fantastic show. I was very, very disappointed. The writing was bad, the acting was bad, and the dancing not bad, per se, but not overly impressive either as there wasn’t really enough of it to go around. It is about a young man who works in a steel factory but who really wants to be a dancer. Cliche? Yes, I think so. I think it was based on a real person, but I have a feeling the story was changed to make it more Hollywood-y (even though it is an Australian show). Actually, speaking of Australia, this show reminded me of their cheesy soap operas (Neighbours, Home and Away) more than anything. Too bad. (*)
