How to Get Your Android Phone Out of Safe Mode

One of my friends suddenly found that her phone had put itself in “safe mode”. She had no idea how she had done it and no idea how to get it out of that mode. After looking around on the internet, I found a solution that worked for her.

  1. Turn the phone off.
  2. Turn it back on and hold the “up” volume button.

Pretty easy, but it seemed to work for her.

Hope this helps!

Didn’t work for me. I removed the battery for a couple of minutes, then restarted the phone. That cleared the safe mode.

It did work for me …. I think it depends on the type of phone you are using – whether it has a removeable battery or not. My phone does not have a removeable battery.

Simple thing..enter on the visible keypad your pin number, should unlock the phone from safe mode. Then go to settings and remove your pin…just be sure you do not have onlne account info stored in your phone or you always have it with you. Got this straight from a Verizon store rep who unlocked my phone for me.

All you need to do is RESTART your phone. When you power off the phone have three options, power off, airplane mode, restart.

  43. Hey Shaney,

Over the last two years your quick advice has helped A LOT of people get their phones out of Safe mode. Over 740 Comments from happy and grateful people and you have many more helpful, interesting and amusing articles which are also enjoyable. I liked your “Fake Arguments” post and since today is the 1st of July I wanted to wish you a happy Canada Day and since I live in the US and July 4th is rapidly approaching I want to wish my fellow US citizens a Happy Independence Day and to the rest of the world Happy Holidays :)

To wrap up with some advice of my own about “Safe mode”, I wanted to let everyone know that to get into Safe mode on many Android phones you have to press certain keys like the volume and power keys. Safe mode can then be used to troubleshoot a problematic cell phone or tablet. If you reboot your Android and it’s still in Safe mode then it may be that one of the keys on your phone is malfunctioning and is in the pressed in position. By pressing the key in a few times and restarting the phone (as you suggested so wisely) you should be able to get your Android out of Safe mode. You can read more about this issue at http://www.smartmobilephonesolutions.com/content/how-to-get-android-phone-out-of-safe-mode.

Keep up the good work Shaney, and keep your interesting posts coming.
